Mike Lawson

I’ve been playing guitar professionally for over 40 years. My journey started back when I was self-taught as a kid and took me through countless performances, from bluegrass shows to solo acoustic gigs along the Gulf of Mexico, to stages around the USA, and internationally in Germany, China, and Canada. I’m not famous, but I’ve worked with many who are—and I still do.

Starting out, I used a variety of guitars over the earliest years—many of them mid-level instruments that faced challenges with intonation, action, and overall sound. Those experiences taught me what a musician really needs from their guitar: it has to sound great, play smoothly, and hold up under the demands of live performance—all without breaking the bank. I want a guitar to sound like a $4,000 instrument, play and feel like one, but I don’t want to take a $4,000 guitar to a frat house or a corner pub. Especially not where the tipsy lady requesting a song “right now,” mid-performance, knocks the mic into your mouth.

I’ve had the privilege of performing for audiences ranging from a handful of people to tens of thousands, and these experiences as a working musician have taught me what truly matters in a guitar.

This is why I collaborated with Pearl River to create the signature models: high-quality guitars that deliver top-tier construction, features, sound, and playability at a price affordable for all musicians.
